To further address the potential for cooperation on both ends, we have welcomed ChM Dr. Fatimah Salim, Research Fellow at the Universiti Teknologi MARA’s Atta-ur-Rahman Institute For Natural Product Discovery (AuRIns).
Our goal is to elevate the Diploma in Natural Medicine programme to a level where the students will learn material that is current with both the market and knowledge.
We are really grateful that ChM Dr. Fatimah Salim visited our college. We sincerely hope that the students will profit from the expansion of our commercial connections.
AuRIns was initially formed as a research cluster under the Faculty of Pharmacy known as Institut Kajian Ubat Semulajadi (iKUS) in 2004. In 2007, iKUS was upgraded to Centre of Excellence (CoE) and provided with its own budget. Prof. Dr. Jean-Frédéric Faizal Weber Abdullah was chosen to serve as the organization’s first Director in 2008. iKUS and the School of Pharmacy were then relocated to their new location at the UiTM Selangor, Puncak Alam Campus in December 2009. The University Executive Committee decided to rename the institute as the “Atta-ur-Rahman Institute for Natural Product” after Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman FRS, a renowned scientist and researcher in the field of natural products from Pakistan, was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science by UiTM in October 2011.
